'The Time Advantage' is an innovative book that introduces you to high payback time management techniques to increase productivity and personal effectiveness.

The Time Advantage book is in the form of a fictional story. that seamlessly introduces, and connects, a wide range of advanced techniques in a way that demonstrates their practical value.

Designed to be memorable and enjoyable, The Time Advantage contains some intriguing, surprising, and delightful connections between the people, places and events. It is one of the closest management books you will get to a management detective story.

If you are a manager, the methods here are important to know. For many, they will offer a  turning point to a greater sense of purpose, to new ways of energising yourself and others, to better ways of organising, and being in control.

Story Line

Our hero, John Watson is a working manager, dealing directly with customers. His targets increase year by year but the time he has to meet them is the same as it always was. He knows there is a problem looming and recognises something has to change.

Through a chance meeting on a train, a retired professor introduces him to eight other professors. All have a secondary interest in time management.

To his surprise, every time John meets a professor he learns something significant about time management. Note that John is no pushover. He already knows something of time management. He challenges what he learns and gains a greater understanding of how he can make a big practical difference to how he works. He also learns of a mysterious tenth professor, not on his visit list, who can tell him something special.

Join him on his journey, and meet Mary, who guides him on his way.

Author John W Hall had four major design objectives in mind for the book.

Firstly the book should have a high value. There are lots of inspirational techniques here, many more than you might find in other books. The hero of the story visits ten professors so essentially you have ten books in one.

Secondly, the book needed to be practical.  By having our hero, a practical working manager, visit and challenge some professors, you get a reality check as you go along.  In this way, I hope that readers will gain more practical benefit than just reading academically about a time technique.  The hero makes action points at the end of each of his visits, and discusses some of the learning with a friend of his. All this makes for a more practical transfer of knowledge.

Thirdly, I wanted the book to be enjoyable.  It has to be a positive experience, both in learning and in the style. Managers are too busy to pick up a boring book. Hence this book is in the form of a story with mysteries, puzzles, and surprises that make it memorable and unforgettable.  At the end of every chapter there are momentum builders to take you to the next chapter.

Here are some teasers to challenge you:-

1. Will you laugh...when you discover what sets our hero and the tenth professor laughing on a hill near a famous place.

2. What's special about... the pub signs on the pubs our hero visit?

3. Will you crack... the unforgettable Plumstone connection!

4. Will you work out... the name of the mystery guest!!!!!!

Fourthly, I wanted the book to provoke discussion amongst readers. Discussion will help learning and comparisons. You will have to read the book to find out how I have achieved this, but if you can find other readers, or you give one as a present to someone you would like to have a discussion with, then I'm sure you'll find lots to discuss.

What really pleases me is that early readers are coming back to say they have enjoyed the book and they are telling me it is an experience! Check out the chapter headings above to sense the nature of the experience!
